Finance agreed before the car goes on the ramp
The customer who needs a clutch they can't pay for in one go is the customer most likely to say “leave it for now”. Payment Assist lets them spread the cost interest-free, while your garage is paid in full up front.
BOOKAR connects to your own Payment Assist account. Check the customer's eligibility while they're authorising the work, send the application from the job when it's done, and the work order is paid, invoiced and the invoice sent to Payment Assist without anyone re-keying a thing.
Connect your own Payment Assist account in BOOKAR under Settings → Integrations.

What the Payment Assist integration does
Finance is decided when the customer authorises the job, not at the till. BOOKAR puts it where that decision is made, and takes care of everything after it.
Eligibility check before the work
Ask Payment Assist whether the customer would be approved straight from the work order — before the car goes on the ramp, not after the job is finished. No loan is set up and no money moves.
Apply by text, email or QR code
Payment Assist send the application and its terms to the customer's phone, or they scan a QR code at the counter. Their credit product, in their own regulated wording.
Your plans, your fees, on screen
The plans on your Payment Assist account appear with the fee to you for each, and only the ones that cover the amount can be picked — or let the customer choose.
Finance pending, on the job
Once the application is sent the work order shows it is waiting for the customer, with the link, the QR code and a cancel button a click away.
Paid and invoiced automatically
When Payment Assist confirm the loan is set up, BOOKAR records the payment against the job and can raise the invoice and complete the work order — nothing for the front desk to press.
Invoice sent to Payment Assist
Payment Assist pay the garage once they hold the invoice. BOOKAR uploads it for you as soon as there is one, so the money isn't waiting on a forgotten email.
From the job to Payment Assist and back
Four steps, all of them inside the work your team is already doing.
Connect Payment Assist
Paste the API key and secret from your Payment Assist account into Settings → Integrations. BOOKAR checks them with Payment Assist before saving.
Check eligibility
While the customer is authorising the work, run a quick eligibility check from the work order.
Send the application
When the work is done, choose Payment Assist and the application goes to the customer by text, email or QR code.
Paid automatically
The customer signs and pays their first instalment, and the job is paid in BOOKAR — with the invoice already on its way to Payment Assist.
Why garages turn it on
The gap between the work a vehicle needs and the work a customer authorises is usually about when the money is due, not whether they trust the diagnosis.
- More big repairs authorised instead of deferred
- Finance known before the work starts, not after
- The full amount paid to you up front
- Collections handled by Payment Assist, not your office
- No payment keyed in and no invoice emailed by hand
- Its own payment method, so it posts cleanly to your accounts
About Payment Assist
Founded in 2013, Payment Assist is a UK provider of interest-free, buy-now-pay-later finance built for the automotive sector — repairs, servicing, MOTs and tyres. It is part of the Manx Financial Group, with lending provided through Conister Bank.
Garages are paid in full up front, usually within five working days of the invoice reaching Payment Assist, and Payment Assist collect the repayments from the customer. Customers spread the cost over a few months with no interest, subject to eligibility and affordability checks.

Common questions about Payment Assist
When is my garage paid?
Payment Assist pay the garage in full up front, usually within five working days of receiving the invoice. BOOKAR uploads the invoice to them automatically once the loan is set up, so there is no delay waiting for someone to send it.
What does it cost the garage?
Payment Assist charge no setup or monthly fees. On 0% plans the garage pays a fee that makes the finance interest-free for the customer — BOOKAR shows the fee for each plan on your account before you send the application. BOOKAR adds nothing on top.
What if the eligibility check says no?
Payment Assist's rules don't allow a declined customer to be checked again or re-applied with changed details, so BOOKAR blocks both and shows the decline on the work order. You know before the work goes ahead, and can agree another way to pay.
Do I need a Payment Assist account?
Yes — the integration uses your own Payment Assist dealer account. If you don't have one, Payment Assist's garage sign-up is on their website; once you have your API details, connecting them in BOOKAR takes a couple of minutes.
The rest of the stack
BOOKAR connects to the suppliers, data providers and payment platforms a UK garage already runs on.
